My journey with Selden began in July 2007 when I joined the Junior program, and I became a member of the department in June 2010. What inspired me to join was my family, specifically my grandparents, and the opportunity to continue my grandfather’s legacy. Being able to serve in the same department and carry his badge number is something I am incredibly proud of.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as both Lieutenant and Captain of Dixon Engine Company 3. Those experiences helped shape me as a firefighter and leader, and looking ahead, I’ve considered continuing my service by pursuing a position in the Chief’s Office as a Third Assistant Chief.

One of my favorite parts of being a member of Selden Fire Department is knowing that I’m continuing my family’s legacy while serving alongside an incredible group of people. The friendships you make here often become much more than friendships, they become family.
Being a member of this department has helped me grow into the person I am today. The experiences, responsibilities, and lessons learned through the fire service have had a lasting impact on both my personal and professional life.

For anyone who may be nervous about training, my advice is simple: there is always someone willing to help. No one expects you to know everything right away. Members are always willing to walk you through training step by step and help you succeed.

My family is very supportive of my service and thinks it’s amazing that I’m able to give back to the community in this way. Their support has played a big role in my journey through the department.

If someone is considering joining the Selden Fire Department, I would tell them to do it. It opens many doors, provides opportunities you never expected, and introduces you to people who can become lifelong friends.

Outside of the fire department, I work as a tractor trailer driver and have been doing so for the past three years. It’s a career I truly enjoy and one that keeps me busy when I’m not responding to calls or spending time at the firehouse.

Being a member of the Selden Fire Department means everything to me. From helping people in their time of need, to receiving some of the best training opportunities available, to building friendships that become family, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
