The Selden Fire Department was happy to join the Teddies for Happiness Foundation Touch-A-Truck / Toy / Food Drive on Saturday July 11, 2026, alongside members of other first responder organizations to bring awareness and donations to this very worthwhile cause. Led by Chief Nowakowski the Selden Fire Department arrived at Texas Roadhouse in Selden with several pieces of apparatus, an Ambulance, Ladder Truck, and the ever popular among children, Brush 9 "Stump Jumper" Brush Truck. We were joined by members of the Greenport Fire Department who brought an Engine all the way from Greenport as well as representatives from the Suffolk County Fire Marshals Office & The Southold Fire Marshals Office. Suffolk County Legislator (4thLD) Nick Caracappa although recovering from a procedure, made sure to attend and support this worthwhile event. We even had an appearance from Seldens Sparky the Fire Dog, The Teddies for Happiness Bear and the Texas Roadhouse Armadillo.

The Teddies for Happiness Charitable Foundation was started in 2023 when Selden resident and founder Landan, had participated in an internship with an East End of Long Island Police Department. From that experience Landan wanted to do a Teddy Bear / Toy Drive to bring some joy to children in underprivileged situations with the help of Law Enforcement. This would ultimately become the annual Long Island Law Enforcement Charity Touch-A-Truck & Toy Drive now involving all aspects of First Responders. As Teddies for Happiness continues to grow more events will be added. To learn more about this Charitable Foundation, please scan the URL listed in the photo section of this article. Great Job Landan!!! Proud to call you one of our Neighbors

Special Thanks to the Selden N.Y. Texas Roadhouse for hosting this event and for always supporting and having the backs of our local First Responders. "You Rock"
