Patriot Day: 25 Years Later, We Will Never Forget

Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation and our fire service.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary courage displayed by first responders and ordinary citizens who answered the call to help others.

For the Selden Fire Department, September 11 carries a deeply personal significance. We remember Nicholas Chiofalo, a Firefighter with FDNY Engine Company 235 who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the City of New York on September 11, 2001. Here at home, Nicholas proudly served the Selden Fire Department as Captain of Truck Company 1.

His legacy remains an important part of our department's history. Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor his service, his courage, and his sacrifice.

Join Us This Evening

We invite our community to join the members of the Selden Fire Department this evening at 6:30 PM at Selden Fire Headquarters for our September 11th Memorial Service.

Together, we will remember Captain Chiofalo, all those who were lost on September 11, and the first responders who gave everything in service to others.

As a community and as a fire department, we remain committed to ensuring that the sacrifices of that day are passed on to future generations and never forgotten.
