At 8:16AM on February 5th members of the Selden Fire Department responded to a call of a structural collapse at 50 Manhasset Avenue. Upon arrival, the SFD encountered the roof of a carport which had collapsed onto two cars. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Roughly 20 members of the Selden Fire Department responded to the incident.

Selden Assistant Chief Michael Matteo said the damage could have been much worse.
“The initial thought was that this was a collapse of a home, however when we arrived we found the damage was relegated to the carport and vehicles. The electrical wiring of the structure was also damaged in the collapse causing a possible fire hazard, but luckily no fire occurred.”

The Selden Fire Department notified the town Building Inspector and Fire Marshal of the situation.
