Fire Rips Through House on Fountain Ave
By Selden FD
November 11, 2007
At around 6:30pm Sunday night Selden Vollies were called by numerous neighbors that a house on Fountain Ave was on fire. About 1 minute later the first unit on scene reported a fire that had already spread to a large portion of the home. A teenaged boy that was the only one in the house was already out and at a neighbors house. The first engine was on scene in a few minutes and quickly went to work making an interior attack on this well advanced fire. With the luck of having a hydrant directly in front of the house plenty of water was available to fight the fire.
EMS arrived and transported the teen to a local hospital for evaluation. The fire was brought under control in less than 1 hour. Suffolk County Police Arson and the Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshall's office are investigating the cause of the fire which appears accidental in nature at this time.
